Search module not working for VM since upgrade

Hi,

Since upgrading my client's website from Joomla 2.5/VM2 to Joomla 3.4/VM3, the search module in the top right corner no longer works for Virtuemart products.

The upgraded site is at www.alainluminaires.com.au and, for comparison, the old site is now at www.blackhawkit.com/alainj2 . Try searching on 'clock' for example and you'll see a big difference.

How do I get the search module to work for VM products on the upgraded site?

Thanks,
Julia.

Hello,

go to your new version of virtuemart and then click on Configuration,
in the Product Order Settings tab, make sure that in the Available Search Fields (the bottom area) that Product Name is ticked. Save and see if search work now.

Best regards,

Hi Nikola,

I have checked the Product Order Settings and see that Product Name is already ticked, so that isn't the problem. Good suggestion but not the answer, sorry to say!

Do you have any other ideas?

Many thanks,
Julia.

Hello again,

can you see if you have enabled plugin in extensions > plugins? Also for search moduel set VirtueMart Search Product module. You can follow this simple steps:

-Go to Extensions -> Plugin Manager
-From the Select Type drop down on the right, select Search
-Find Virtuemart Product and make sure it is published
-Next, go to Extensions -> Module Manager
-From the Select Type drop down on the right, select VirtueMart Search Product
-You should now see a VirtueMart module pop up. Open it, assign it to a suitable position in your template. Publish this module.

Hi Nikola,

The first part of your instructions did the trick. The plugin Virtuemart Product was not enabled. Now I have enabled it and the search is working perfectly.

I have not implemented the VirtueMart Search Product module because the standard Joomla search module is working well. I'm not sure what the advantage of VM Search Product is over Joomla search, when Joomla search is able to search VM products very well.

Thankyou very much for your help.
Julia.
