Main menu tabs not showing up

Hello, I had Joomla installed already and then installed this template without all the custom content. How do I go about adding the nice tabbed main menu that has the nice drop downs from the demo? All I get when I add a menu module is a list of my menu items as seen in the attached picture on the left side. What I want is shown in the attachment on the right side.

Please do the following:

1. Publish module in position USER3
2. Disable module title
3. Make sure menu type is set to LIST
4. Type "nav" (without quotes) in Module Tag ID field
5. Add some submenu items in Menu Manager to have drop-down submenus.
