Three times I have unzipped the Sportal "hot_sportal_j31" package on the server which is running PHP 5.5.0 and MySQL . and after each failed attemp (as noted below) I have deleted all files and folders.

I unzip the files on the server.

I perform the chmod 755 on the /wwwroot on all folders and recursive throughout the entire application path.

I perform the chmod 644 on the /wwwroot on all files and recursive throughout the entire application path.

I then point the browser to the domain, enter the required information for the Configuration Tab and the application hangs. I am not able to advance to the Database portion of the install.

One thing I have noticed is that the "configuration.php" file is not created. Seeing this, I created a blank config file, reran the setup and still, no joy.

Please refer to the attached screenshot.

I would imagine that there is a simple resolution for this issue so any instruction would be helpful. Thanks!

Reason for this usually can be file access which you already tried to change or PHP or MYSQL version is older that needed for j3.1.

PHP 5.3.1 +
MYSQL 5.1 +

It's a curious thing: every time a do a chmod, Filezilla does not fill the permissions column... it is always empty. I even did a chmod 777 on -everything- and no joy on install! Murphy's Law is working against me. I contacted my hosting provider to have them make the changes. I am certain that the Server Applications are within tolerance so it must be file permissions. I will let you know how that goes.

Try this:

if j2.5 open

installation/index.php

if j3.1 open

installation\application\framework.php

find this lines :

error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors', true);

and replace them with:

error_reporting(0);
ini_set('display_errors', false);

This is very frustrating. A little background: I have been in the industry for about 20 years. This is not meant to be said in a defensive way... it's to let you know you can speak to me in technical terms.

I have been working on this for about 12 hours and even at my level of expertise, it has me totally stumped when considering how this was advertised. Anyway...

When I attempted to install your Joomla v3 distro with the Sample Site, it failed... couldn't even get to step #2.

So, I try v2.5 with the "Sample Site". The CSS was not available so the install was nothing like your PDF instruction... just text. However, it did install... somewhat. Joomla installed, but with the default Joomla site. Yes, I installed the site data (confirmed by looking in the MySQL DB before going into the next step... or at-least there seemed to be some extra data not associated with a Joomla Default install).

So, I dont have the "New Site with New Data" or the "New Sample Content".

I have seen other posts where people are paying $30.00 for your installation but I did not pay for that. It was offered as "point and click" and it's just not working that way.

Can you offer any real-world assistance in this matter?

Thanks...

I want you to know that I am sure that your "New Site" will work... the "New Site" looks nice and I really want to get it going... that's why I bought it.
