Top menu width

Hello can you please tell me how can i make the top menu wider? I have removed the search module and made bigger the letters but i want the contact button to be in the same line..Can you please help me?
Also how can i change the background image when i set the style to custom?

In index.php of template you have this:

$searchWidth = 203;
$menuWidth = $templateWidth - 170 - $searchWidth;

set

$searchWidth = 0;

Thank you! Can i ask one more question? I can see my site in a iphone or smartphone but i cant see the background image..bg1 why is that? did i do something wrong?
