Sparky Page Builder Rich Text was created by nikolaosmalliaros
In the Documentation I found
here
it mentions how we can include bold, italic and underlined text, as well as how to add a link to a text in Paragraph BLOCK.
But when I'm trying to apply the way the manual says, either for rich text or for a link, I get an "Please select a part of the text first" error message.
Basically I get this error when I select the text and click the Link icon. When I select the text and click CMD + B, CMD + I or CTRL + U, nothing happens.
Can you tell me what I can do to be able to use these features? It's very important for website creation!
Additional information:
I have a MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6
Joomla! Version : Joomla! 3.10.1 Stable
PHP Version : 7.4.12
Editor - Sparky Page Builder : 1.0.1
Sparky Page Builder Package : 1.0.1
To improve Sparky Page Builder I suggest the following:
1) Add blocks for tables
2) Add border option to the column settings
3) Add the ability to change the color of some words in Paragraph BLOCK
4) Add Description List BLOCK, with terms and descriptions.

Hi Nikolaos,
Thank you for your feedback. The issues you mentioned are related to Firefox only. We are currently very busy with the upgrade of our templates to Joomla 4.0, but we will try to address these issues in Firefox ASAP.
All the features (link and text formatting) are working properly with all Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Opera, Edge...). You can either use one of these browsers or use a Custom HTML block.
Our main task is to keep Sparky Page Builder simple and intuitive for use, without tons of options. Regarding the new features:
1. The table block is planned, but it will be difficult to develop it. It'll take time.
2. We won't add tons of options because it will confuse users. You can always add borders via CSS.
3. We probably won't add that to the Paragraph block to keep it simple. If you want the text in multiple colors, you can use a Custom HTML block or style if via CSS. But it's possible that we would add a WYSIWYG block in the future that would show the TinyMCE editor.
4. I am not sure what you mean? Do you have an example?
Thanks for your feedback again and best regards.

Hi Milos,
I'm using Safari not Firefox but when I tried on Chrome worked as expected. Thanks for pointing out.
Some remarks regarding your answers regarding the new functions:
1. Expected to be difficult to develop, but I'm glad you have it in your plan.
2. By this logic, anything can be created and added via css. The goal is for the most used ones to be added with a few clicks. Borders I consider to be one of the most widely used styles.
3. I agree that it is excessive and not so necessary to add this option, but you rightly thought to add a WYSIWYG block in the future. (with the exchange of views there is always the best solution)
4. An example can be found here . It's something I use a lot when creating websites. Again, do not assume that it is unnecessary and that you want to keep the add-on as simple as possible. If I have to use the Custom HTML block all the time, it makes no sense to use Sparky Page Builder.
Personal opinion and experience:
In WordPress I have used Page Builders with tons of options. If the person setting up the website knows what he wants to do, then he is not confused by the many options he has.
On this occasion I would like to mention a few issues that I have identified so far:
1) When correcting a block, while I have not selected a background image, it automatically displays the link shown in the attached image.
This does not cause a problem since I do not want to have a background image, as it displays the result correctly. However, if I select to display a background image when creating a block and later for any reason I correct the options of the block, it does not display the link of the image I had selected, but again the above default link. If I then select the desired background image again, it does not save the new link but again this default, so the image I want "disappears" and I have to create the block again from the beginning.
2) In many cases I use the "Columns on Tablet" and "Columns on Smartphone" options in Row Settings, but this feature rarely works. It usually does not match the choices I have made.
In this Row, I have four columns and I want to apply the options shown in the attached photo. When I see it from a mobile phone or tablet, four columns appear instead of one or two respectively.

Hi,
Sparky Page Builder is previously developed for websites owners, not for developers. The developer can set borders, shadows, and many other properties in CSS. When it's done, the website user (who maybe doesn't know HTML/CSS) can edit text, images, etc. without a big chance to make something wrong. That's the idea.
Also, it's not created to be a new CMS inside Joomla (like SP Page Builder or Quix). It's just a content editor (like TinyMCE) that allows you to edit content quickly, with the possibility to be extended (by adding more blocks, such as Table block or Description List block you mentioned).
Actually, we have been inspired by the Block Editor (Gutenberg) for WordPress. To be honest, I think something like that should be integrated into Joomla (like Block Editor is integrated into WordPress).
Regarding the bugs:
1. We are inspecting this and the fix will be released in the next version.
2. Sometimes, the template's CSS can conflict with the page builder's CSS. But I can't tell you precisely until I see the website where you experienced this problem.
Thanks,
Milos
