SOLVED - bilingual site with hotflashes-template

Dear Forum (please excuse my bad English),
I try to make the start of hotflashes bilingual German/English, but I did the following:
I activate in Joomla the Language Filter, create the Language Switcher-Modul and create a default-Menu with a dummy (featered articles), chose and rename the Main-Menu to DE and give the home-entry language DE, create a new Main (UK) with home-uk and so far.
The result when I open the Site in Firefox is directly the Site "Home" with reduced startpictures.
I'd like to get a possibility to chose first the language to show the full startingpage either in German or in English and than chose the Link I want to visit.
If there is any possibility I would say many thanks.

Then your home page needs to be language selection page?

yes, indeed.
I'd like to have the full-height menu with the possibility to chose either german or english, after chosing my selection the full-height menu should be shown with further links to the content in the accordant language.
Only after this the menu may collapse and the content appears.
My opinion: I want avoid two complete Joomla-installations in German and English.
