Update1.5 to 1.7 before going to 2.5 w/template

Hello,

My template is 1.5, I also have the 1.7 and the 2.5 versions; I have the 1.5.25 version of Joomla installed and my php is 5.2.17.

I would like to update from 1.5 to 1.7 and keep my customized template in working order.

What are the steps to update the template when updating or migrating the Joomla version? Do I just install the template version I want and not install the demo data or is that wishful thinking? (Would I have to create a new database, etc.)

Well I don't know how much custom changes you had, but beside them thing are bit different.

best practice is to download new version of template especially because modules are also changed in new version. Install hot start. Then do migration of data.

Custom changes you had may not be applayable in same form as for j1.5 .
