So I've installed a template (wedding) using the hotstart.zip method. It all looks fine. The colours match the demo and the modules are in the right place. The challenge I now have is that I can't seem to be able to upload any more extensions.

I receive an "unable to find install package" error. Using joomla 2.5 and the extensions are 2.5; any help here appreciated please.

Or so I thought. Tried changing ftp_enable to "0" but that produced other errors. my PHP is 5.3, up to date. I can see files uploaded but it doesn't want to extract.

I've also tried changing the global configuration and I get the following:

"JFTP: :write: Bad response
Could not save data. Error: Could not write to the configuration file"

I'm thinking the database tables could be in error or it can't communicate with the database, though this was checked when I installed?

Any help appreciated

Check CHMOD on your site is set to allow write permissions, if you have cpanel it's file manager can change CHMOD. If you are unable to change it that is sign that ownership chain in broken and you need to ask your hosting provider to execute script to rebuild ownership chain.

Also make sure in joomla global configuration temp and log folder path are correct. Usually ./tmp and ./logs do the trick

Hi

Tried all of this and spoke to my ISP. They have adjusted Apache's global configuration to as it should be for Joomla. This still is not working. The paths to the /tmp and /logs are correct.

I tried changing a setting on Joomla, global configuration (debug system) but I got the following:

JFTP: :write: Bad response
Could not save data. Error: Could not write to the configuration file

Not only this but the system will not upgrade to Joomla 2.5.9 from 2.5.7

The only information I can provide is that I was informed that my database was not quite right and I was asked if I wished to amend something, which I said yes to. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that.

Short of a reinstall is there anything I should try now?

Hi Guys

Matter resolved, by the fantastic team at LCN.com. Configured/changed some PHP setting; I wish I could be more helpful but at least it gives a big up to LCN, whom I have no interest with save they host my sites.
