Is ftp upload neccessary with 1and1 click an build was created by jasonk1234
I purchased hot rockin template and installed correctly, but for the life of me I cannot install the sample data via ftp upload as instructed by the documentation that came with it.
My question is: is there another way to install sample data?
Is there a template I can download for an easy install with sample data already included?
Thank you for help Im kind of a noob when it comes to the whole ftp, mysql and php side of things

No, you have to upload files via FTP and you should not use Joomla auto-installers that some hosting companies offer. Please read documentation PDF. The HotStart method is the only way to install template with demo data.

thanks for the quick response.
I have tried and tried but cannot figure out the ftp part. I upload the file but when I go to mysite.com/filename/index.php it says 404 not found in safari and in google chrome it asks for password but the page is just a bunch of text about joomla.
I am frustrated and may just give up. at least the template was only $17 a small loss.
Im not sure if someone could do it for me, I had one offer but I do not trust the person with my password and username.
thanks

hot_start is all you need to use. Just copy files from it to your hosting root, then browse base link and installation will start. Remember to click on "Install Sample Data" during installation.

So I got on the phone with my host 1and1 and they told me joomla click and build template install prohibits me from uploading sample data via ftp. They said I have to upload the entire package from ftp and avoid click and build altoegether.
So is that just the hot_rockin16_hotstart zip files extracted then uploaded?
Or is it the main template package? hot rockin source package?
Im very confused.
Also if i ever succeed installing this way what url is it installed on?
I think i bit off more than I can chew as the pdf instructions say to use host install and then ftp for sample data.
