joomla installation stuck on step 1 language

I followed the instructions in the pdf, and when i go to the page where i should see the first joomla installation screen, i just see the left hand side where it says languages. the rest of the page is blank. my host company said perhaps files are corrupted? please advise.

So you got zip from us, you have another zip in it ...hot_start.zip , you need to extract files from ...hot_start.zip to your web root, and browse base site link. Remember to click "install sample data"
