I am new in this but you provided excellent tutorials. I followed your tutorials and everything was smooth and easy until I got the message: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL
Re-started Apache twice, unzipped different copy of Joolma 1.5.14. No success.

Did you use correct parameters (dbname, dbuser and dbpass)? Did you use correct dbhost?. Also, make sure that mysql server is up and running. Go to XAMPP Control panel and check if green message "running" is next to mysql.
