Upgrading

We are going to be upgrading our website from Joomla 2.5 to 3.x.

It looks like there are separate versions of HOT Image Slider - one for 2.5 and one for 3.x What is the process for upgrading the module while still retaining the settings in our module?

Also, if we decide to purchase the Pro version, can I install that on Joomla 2.5 without losing our settings in the module?

You can upgrade from 2.5 to 3.x module version, as well as from FREE to PRO version just by overwriting module files via FTP. In this case, you won't lose any module parameters.

I purchased the Pro version. I can't upload the files via FTP as the folder names are different (mod_hot_image_slider) and (mod_hot_image_slider_pro).

If I install the Pro version through the Joomla Extension Manager, will that overwrite the existing version and all the module parameters?

Yes, this is correct, the module names are different, so please disregard my previous answer. You would need to install PRO version together with FREE version and then just manually copy/paste all parameters from the FREE to the PRO version.

The result will be the same, plus you would get features of the PRO version (responsive slider, etc...)

Thank you. My plan is to upgrade to the Pro version on my Joomla 2.5 site then upgrade to Joomla 3.x.

Just to clarify, do I need to uninstall the current version of Hot Image Slider first or can I install the Pro version with the current version still installed? If the latter, will it keep both modules so I can copy/paste or is the Pro version going to wipe out the current version.

You can use both FREE and PRO modules at once. They can work independently from each other. You just can't publish two modules on the same page because this will probably make some JavaScript errors.
