We will add option to control timing in one of the next versions. For now, you can change it yourself:
- open file /js/scripts.js
- find line 152 and change number 1000 to some other value

Thats great thanks for your help!
On another subject is there a way to change the z-index of the hot slide module? I'm using the hot slider just below a drop down menu and the menu drops down behind the image slide.. Any ideas or is this a template/joomla issue?

In file default.php try to find line with z-index:40 and delete it. This should fix the problem.
