Hot Newsflash is great, but it seems to break a lot of other extensions on my site. Is there any way you can incorporate the following solution or similar into Hot Newsflash to resolve what I believe is a conflict with mootools? The text is quoted from the SC jQuery plugin description.

"This plugin is used to load jQuery javascript library, and set "no conflict" mode to allow usage with mootools, and other libraries. No conflict mode remove the "$" operator from jQuery, allowing other libraries to use that operator. If you have questions, please email me at phil@snellcode.com"

Note: I disabled jQuery option in Hot Newsflash and enabled the SC jQuery plugin in the Joomla plugin manager hoping that would solve the problem, but Hot Newsflash won't function, or at least not the rotation feature, when you disable it's own jQuery option.

This module can't work without jQuery. It must be enabled in template or module. Conflict between jQuery and mooTools is possible. Try to google that to find a solution. Usually, people doesn't mix those 2 libraries, but decide to use one of them. Even if they are not in conflict, using 2 libraries is resource-consuming.

Could you possibly recode Hot Newsflash to load the jQuery javascript library, with a "no conflict" mode option to allow usage with mootools and other libraries? No conflict mode removes the "$" operator from jQuery, allowing other libraries to use that operator. I see you have an option to disable jQuery, but when I do, Hot Newsflash doesn't rotate, even if I use another Joomla plugin such as 'SC jQuery' to load jQuery into the template in 'no conflict' mode. It would be just great if you could do this as Hot Newsflash has quickly become one of my favorite modules and a valuable and much appreciated addition to my site.Â

I totally agree with this suggestion. I am having exactly the same issue. Disabling JQuery in Hot Newsflash admin renders the module unuseful since the rotation and the tabs become non-functional...so I am not sure what value the JQuery disable option have if it is going to render the module inoperable. Most Joomla sites already run on JQuery extensions so there is a great challenge enabling another JQuery session in Hot Newsflash which if enabled messes up the site frontpage.

Otherwise if this issue is resolved, this will be a great Joomla extension.

Fantastic. Much appreciated. Can I just overwrite the old one without losing all the information I entered?
