Changing Index page changes permissions? was created by waterwalk
Hi, I have experimented with this now several times and it seems that as soon as I make any changes to index.php and upload those changes it causes the joomla site to stop being able to see any changes made to the database. It appears that somehow the permissions might be getting changed from read and write to just read. The file that I download (index.php) has 'read and write' permissions but the moment I change it and upload OR if I even make changes to while it's still on the server, the permissions change to 'read only'. I need to be able to change the logo and background etc. in the index.php file. What do I do?

Download jommla!explorer component and use it to change file permissions. Btw. sometimes joomla may display that file in not writable although it's realy writable.
