PDF icon before download link in a list

I'd like to use a PDF and ZIP icons when creating links to download files from articles text in a bullet list. I tried this HTML parameter set:

<ul>
<li><a class="icon-pdf" target=""_blank" title="PDF File" href="downloadfiles_path/filename.pdf">file_description</a><li>
<ul>

But it doesn't work. Do you have any suggestion?

P.S.: I'm using JCE Editor in its last version, and no addons.

PDF is no longer embeded in joomla from 1.6 , probably ZIP to, so you will need 3-rd party component.
