Not working on site front page

Hi folks

Joomla 3
Hot Joomla Carousel

I can see how to link this to a menu that has an article in it but how to I assign it to just an article that appears on my front page?

I used to have this working with the old Joomla 1.5 and Carousel

works on the link lower LHS called 'back to top' that shows the same page with carousel working but not front page
