article options not working

I tried changing the options for each article so that the category, date published, hits, author, etc. does not appear. The changes don't seem to take effect. Where can I go to change the global configurations? Or is there a simpler way to do this?

That is not noticeable indeed, when you go to article manager there is options icon in icon bar between trash and help.
