Convert advert 1-5 into one banner ad?

Does anyone know if it's possible to convert the top adverts 1-5 into one big banner?

Ideally yes, that way I could use the space to include a leaderboard banner.

You must then edit index.php of template , and omit loading of module positions adv1-5. Than add your module position. To define new zou must edit templateDetails.xml of template.
At begging of that file:

<positions>
<position>top</position>
....

then define loading that module position in index.php of template and fit it into desired layout.
