Was able to get past this and transfer files to server. Know I am running into the following issue when I try to load the index.php file.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO COMPLETELY
REMOVE THE INSTALLATION DIRECTORY.
You will not be able to proceed beyond this point until the installation directory has been removed. This is a security feature of Joomla!.
Click here when the directory has been removed.
Thanks
Kevin

Make sure that you HAVE installation directory on server and DO NOT have configuration.php file.
If you uploaded files correctly and in an empty directory (not over existing Joomla files), that should be the case. Otherwise, installer won't start.

Should the directory be at the top level, does the installer look for a specific directory name? You should add this step to the instructions for the hot install. I am new to joomla.

Any directory on the server that's publicly accessible (meaning that you can access it from browser from any place).
If you install it in public directory root, you will see site by going to yoursite.com. If you install in subfolder, you will see site by going to yoursite.com/subfolder
