Hot Start Installation was created by scottshort
I have a joomla site up and running on my host server. I would like to use your Hot Start Install so that all of your initial demo settings are added to my site and then I can work to modify them. I think this might be better for me as I am a newbie to website dev, working with templates and with joomla. I am a little confused with Hot Start instructions as there are steps relating to Joomla which I already have installed. Are these instructions by chance for an FTP install of joomla? Do I need to reinstall joomla in order to get your hot start install?
If so, can I follow your instructions and install over existing joomla install or do I have to delete current joomla install and then follow your instructions? Sorry for the confusion, but I haven't yet done an FTP upload so I have much to learn.
Thanks
Scott

Hot Start installation is actually Joomla installation, but after Hot Start you would get our demo data and settings, not Joomla's default data and settings. So, you have to re-install Joomla, or to install new in a subdirectory, using new mysql database.

HI Milos thanks for helping me with this. I re-installed joomla with your demo data and things seemed to be looking ok. Then I tried to overwrite the three files you emailed me a few days ago to add the custom color control that is missing from the template control panel [index.php, templateDetails.xml, & template_css.php]
Now I have lost access to administrator back end [white screen with words 'restricted access']
Can you please show me the exact locations of these files that I need to overwrite? I found two copies of index.php: the first in the 'administrator' folder and the second in the 'templates/hot_photoportfolio' folder. Did I need to overwrite both of these? Do the other files have more than one copy? I only found one of each of the others.
Thanks
Scott

You should overwrite files in template's folder. It's in /templates/hot_photo_portfolio
To fix files that you damaged, please re-upload them from Hot Start archive.

Thanks Milos,
I re-installed and now everything is working ok. Can you tell me where I can change the name in browser tab? It now reads "Joomla Photo Portfolio Template" instead of my website name. Thanks
Now that I finally have site up and running, I will start to work on colors and logos and will get back to you with any questions. Thanks again

This is actually the name of your default menu item (the one marked with star *). So, you should edit this menu item and change title under the system tab.
