Hi. I want to use the Photo Portfolio template as the starting point for my family's website. I want to be able to share pictures and video. I downloaded the Photo template and unzipped the hot start file. I uploaded everything from the unzipped hot start file to www.themerrills.com/JoomlaPhoto . The next step requires that I go to www.themerrills.com/JoomlaPhoto/index.php . The file exists there but I receive Error 404 File Not Found. Also, I assume that the demo page will load up and I will be able to simply replace parts of the demo page with personal photos and personal menus and articles. I'm looking for an affordable and simple way to load videos as well using this template so that multiple users (mainly my wife and son) may easily upload to the site.

No, you definitelly did not upload to JoomlaPhoto. Root folder of your site is (most likely) /public_html, so JoomlaPhoto directory should be uploaded INSIDE this folder. If /public_html doesn't exist, please ask hosting support what's public HTML folder of your hosting space.

Yes, you'll be able to simply replace parts of the demo page with personal photos and personal menus and articles. But, please keep in mind, you should have some experience with Joomla to do that. If you never worked with Joomla, you would need some experimenting and learning time to accomplish those tasks.

OK, that worked and I went through the entire installation process and it asked me to remove the installation directory before continuing. I did that by removing the directory called "installation" in /public_html/JoomlaPhoto/installation where all my hot start files were loaded to. I clicked to continue and was directed to my homepage where it looks the same as it did before. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall hot start and try again? I have another Photo Portfolio template installed from when I tried to install the template the other way first. Is that a problem?

The HotStart files are NOT uploaded in /installation folder. This folder is part of Joomla that should be deleted after installation. Please give me a screen shot of your FTP software. I think you are uploading files improperly.

Here is a screen shot, I'm not sure if it is what you expected. The demo template is uploaded, it doesn't appear when I type my home page URL ( www.themerrills.com ) but it does appear when I type www.themerrills.com/JoomlaPhoto/index.php now. How do I make it my home page? I realize my questions are very amateur, but Joomla seemed to advertise that these products were easy to use even for beginners. I'm not dumb, I just have very little experience with this.
