hi,
i'm new to joomla and recently purchase the hot protfolio template.
i follow the instructions in the pdf and installed the template, however not via hot start. now when i log into my account and go into template manager, make it my default. when i try to edit the template i get the following message:

ParametersThe parameter file /templates/hot_photoportfolio/params.ini is unwritable!

and

Menu AssignmentMenus: Cannot assign default template.

anyone willing to walk me through how to fix this, or perhaps i need to install and upgrade/add on/extension?

i can't seem to make any changes and when i preview the site, it looks slightly off and the main image that exists in the template isn't showing at all.

thank you!

Hello,
Why didn't you use hot_start?

It is the perfect for beginners and it installs all modules and dummy-data to make it look&feel just like in the demo.

It's easier to just modify tha data structure after the hot_start rather than make it from scratch.

thanks for responding.

after reading the instructions i thought it would be too diffuclt rather than just the simple template install i could do with the other.

but i just tried and failed miserably.
i got to step 4 of the instructions that came with the template, after installing the files via my godaddy ftp. but when i got to this step:
3.In browser, open address http://www.your_site_address.com/joomla/index.php (change "your_site_address.com" with your URL, change "joomla" with folder name where you uploaded files).

it won't work, just says there's no such page.
and the worst part is that now for some reason i can't log into my joomla account.

i think i might be out of my league.

Please don't give up.
It's easier than you think.

Check our manual for hostart:

thanks for sending the url, it's the steps i was following, they came with the template packages.
it seems the issue has increased.
i uploaded the template via my godaddy account using the ftp.
i got to step 4, replaced the web address as advised but this just took me to a page that said i must be lost, or on the wrong page, etc.
and since that moment when i try to access my joomla account i only get a white page that says welcome to front page, and nothing else loads, and i can no longer log into my joomla admin page using the username/password i used previously. any suggestions for fixing this before i try again?

thanks!

You could contact godaddy support and ask them if is it possible to restore your account till the day that everything works.

If you have some valuable data you could try to access mysql database with phpmyadmin and backup that.

You had some activities that you can't undo by yourself (FTP file manipulation/copying/rewriting, overwriting configuration.php...) unless your provider helps you.
