Hi all,

I have a site based on the restaurant theme, it is being designed for a real estate person. it was all going well, after adding a few 3rd party modules the components/ and pages with modules are giving IE errors.

Please also note that my web host was also having a few issues while i was updating the site, and i would completly understand if you said that this may not be the template that causes the error, but i am after guidence if possible.

the url is
Code:
http://uminx.com/joomla
and the home page has always had the

Webpage error details
Code:
User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; InfoPath.3) Timestamp: Thu, 3 Feb 2011 09:14:33 UTC Message: Syntax error Line: 156 Char: 27 Code: 0 URI: http://uminx.com/joomla/

on the home page while i use the hot 3d weather module, so thats not the issue.

if i goto the Contact Paulane link i get the following errors in IE:

Webpage error details
Code:
User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; InfoPath.3) Timestamp: Thu, 3 Feb 2011 09:16:15 UTC Message: 'jQuery' is undefined Line: 151 Char: 6 Code: 0 URI: http://uminx.com/joomla/index.php/contact-paulane Message: Object expected Line: 162 Char: 1 Code: 0 URI: http://uminx.com/joomla/index.php/contact-paulane Message: Syntax error Line: 169 Char: 27 Code: 0 URI: http://uminx.com/joomla/index.php/contact-paulane Message: 'swfobject' is undefined Line: 512 Char: 1 Code: 0 URI: http://uminx.com/joomla/index.php/contact-paulane

i also get errors when going to the rsmonials component via the testimaonials link.

I have already tried disabling the Hot Weather module, and turned off the jscript load in the Hot Newsflash, and nothing is working, any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Rose.

Please try to disable Reflection and/or Font Resize script in Restaurant template parameters.

Thanks Milos,

but no joy after disabling them.. i even tried disabling the 3rd option in the template for the arrow to goto the tp, still no good.

I have gone another step further to test the theme in case something else is causing it. I installed the hot software template, then switched to that one as default, then uninstalled the restaraunt one, then reinstalled it and applied it as default.. same error. so i think its not the template.

i appreciate your help though.

Your content was not accessible in a moment when I took a look but I can guess that maybe your enabled some module that requires jQuery and put "Load jQuery" setting to "NO". If so put it to "Yes".(You need yo have "Yes" on one of the modules that are using jQuery). Also there is FontResizer problem as Milos instructed you but you say that that did not work. Anyway here is a some workaround script fix in attached file (replace /templates/Restaurant/js/fontResize.js)

Hi all,

First off i would like to thank you all for your help with this!

As soon as I moved the sites to the new Hosting comapny every single 1 of the jscript errors vanished! - here is the background..

Basically i was using the GoDaddy Shared Unix hosting, and have about 15 sites on there, now i have noticed a few things going wrong with the sites in the last 5 to 6 months, and i could not put my finger on it.. the recent issue was the one posted above, and i thought it was code related. One of the issues was that the sites would not always resolve when viewed from behind a corporate firewall... Godaddy (in the US) was the host i was using and their support were less that useless to be blunt, I am a senior network consultant and i could see that the sites were being sent from Godaddy malformed, which was causing the main issue of the loading, although they insisted that there was nothing on the server causing this, and nothing had been changed! But in the last month or so, I have been having spuradic issues with loading times and even http 500 errors as well as the jscript not loading even when not behind the corporate firewall?! (see issue above).

I finally bit the bullet and purchased another host (HostGator) and moved 13 of the sites to it and configured Joomla configuration.php accordingly. Low and behold EVERY SINGLE SITE worked perfectly!!

so a lesson to us all.. the largest hosting provider in the US, is obviously not the best by a long shot!! If you are on GoDaddy servers and are experiencing weird issues and the support is lacking, I would highly recommend moving host.. i know its a pain, but in the long run its well worth it - the hassle, frustration, complaints from clients and constant headache has gone! hooray!!

Thanks to the guys here @ hotjoomlatemplates for all your help.. your support has been 100% as always :) Its a real pleasure dealing with you all.

Kind regards

Rose.

Same here. After using GoDaddy for two years several years ago, I decided to switch to www.crucialp.com/ and after that all my sites worked much better and much faster.

Per my experience, hosting providers based on cPanel are best for Joomla based websites, especially for non-techie persons.
