how to enable & activate automatically new users?

Hi Folks,

I am currently checking correct registration process for new users, but get allways differnt kind of error messages.

After not completed registration in frontend, user is registered in backend, but he is not "activated" and "enabled".

Q: How can I enable automatic activation for new users, so they can proceed with next order steps?
Don´t want to activate new customers manually.

In Global Conig on the Admin site : make sure that in the system tab you have the settings as follows

Allow User Registration = Yes
New User Registration Type = registered
New User Account Activation = Yes
Front-end User Parameters = Show

i am using joomla 1.7.2, your disrcibed settings are im my version listed under "user" and "options", which were already according to your posting setted.

so it must be something else... any idea?

Is then "New User Account Activation" = None ?

ok, you are right, have choosed "none", automatic registration is now considered in admin´s backend, so far so good...BUT: i am getting following error message:

"Could not instantiate mail function."

and

"Registration failed: An error was encountered while sending the registration email. A message has been sent to the administrator of this site."

Check your smtp (settings). It seams that joomla is unable to send e-mail message (to newly registered user), put settings same like in outlook or similar (where you know they work).
