JUser: :_load: Unable to load user with ID: 42

I am getting the above error whenever I try to change Joomla Furniture Store to my store name?

That is famous error , just google.

Here are general steps:

1. Open your Joomla database using PHPMyadmin tool.
2. Open "jos_users" table,
3. Find record with "Super User" name and click on edit icon,
4. Change Super User id value to 42 and click on "Go" button,
5. Open "jos_user_usergroup_map" table.
6. Find the record with "group_id" value 8, change "user_id" value to 42, then click on "Go" button,
7. Logout and login again.

I have same problem - but I don't know where to access the database? Or where to get PHPMyadmin tool?

Inside cpanel you have an icon to run it. Maybe your hosting provider does not use cpanel but most of oher systems have it in their control panel. If you use hosting designed for asp.net sites it may happen that your control panel does not have it in that case you would have do use some tool that can run from your computer and connect to database like dgFroge studio

Thank you Ivan. I found it. I was looking within the Joomla Admin area - didn't realize I had to go to my hosting provider.

So, I followed the directions you gave and found that in ffht3_users - the Super User ID was already set to 42 and "group_id" value 8 was also already set to 42, but the Name and User Name were different from what I see when I'm in Joomla backend.

My site is currently live but I am setting up the upgrade and new template in a sub-domain. The superuser name for my live site is the name associated with id 42. The superuser name associated with the new upgrade site is associated with id 889 in the jqzut_users file.

I'm afraid if I change with name I'll wind up locking myself out of everything.

user that is "superuser" needs to have id 42, as I said that is very common error you can google for more instructions.
