Add a background image for the whole body was created by RichardRNC

I want to add a background image outside the left and right edges of the entire template modules.
one that stretches the 1350 pixels and repeats to whatever depth, but does not overprint the header, menus, content, footer, copyright, etc.

I have tried altering the <body> tag in layout.css etc but i think the other modules overprint or create a non-transparent cover over the art intended to show.
