VirtueMart runs slow

Hi I have everything together but the VirtueMart pages don't load pictures and it loads so slow. Everything eventually dies. the pages look really funky because it's all alt tags everywhere instead of the pics.

Anything I can do with a HTacess or database? Even the VM backend doesn't look right but the rest of Joomla is fine.

I've also noticed int he status bar, my site connects to an IP address instead of my domain name when it comes to VM.

The Hot Joomla template was messing things up. I uninstalled Virturemart and reinstalled it from their site and now everything works, except now i don't have the nice shopping cart/basket on the left.

What do I gotta reinstall to get that back?

You should not uninstall. You should just edit VM's configuration file to update paths. Please read documentation file. It's inside the template package.
