using custom style

I just installed template and setup to match demo site. Now I want to change colors via custom. But when I change 1 color the balance of style goes weird.

What am I missing and also can I create a new style once I have modified to my liking?

You can modify one of the style files in /styles/ folder they corespond to style number. If you are not familiar with php don't worry , it's easy you will see:

$variable = 'value';

just take care about quotation.

Thanks I will try that.
i noticed once I started using the style= in the url what I have selected in template admin does not take effect.

How do you get control back or is that a cache issue on my browser?
