Intro Image not working

The Intro Image and Full Article Image are not working in Inset.
I have the 2.5 hotstart edition
When I select the default template, it works perfectly, but when I select the sportal template, no image is shown

When you chose module position you must select specifically "inset" from hot sportal, check that

What do you mean module position?
My problem is that when an item is published in Featured Articles, it has the ability to display (as of joomla 2.5) a different image when in Featured page and a different one when in Full article mode.
You can configure that in Article Edit screen -> Images and Links -> Intro Image and Full Article Image.
When I have the default Joomla template, this functionality works as expected. When I enable Sportal template, it doesn't work at all.

Well maybe that is included in new joomla templates , sportal does not have such option you can revert to default joomlas featured layout if you rename:

templates\hot_sportal\html\com_content\featured\default_item.php

to:

templates\hot_sportal\html\com_content\featured\default_item.ph_
