Hot start installation problem

Hi. I have a membership from 21/08/2011, and I want to install DesignNow template in the site www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.cl (this is no the real name). The site has a website and I want to replace this with a new made with this joomla template, but the actual site must be online until I complete the new.

I need to make an "HotStart Installation" of the "HOT DESIGN NOW" template. This template will will work in a folder called "nuevaweb", inside public_html. In this folder I upload all the files unziped from file "hot_designnow_hotstart.zip"

When I type the direction " www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.cl/nuevaweb ", start the 7 steps installation.
In the step 1, I select "es-ES - Spanish", and I go to Next
In the step 2, "Comprobación previa", all tests show results in green, except for "Mostrar errores (display_errors)", which displays the word "Activado" in red. I left this step without changes and I go to Next.
In the step 3 I go to Next.
In the step 4 "Configuración de la base de datos" ("database configuration") I select:
- In "Tipo de base de datos" ("database type") I select mysql
- In "Nombre del servidor" ("server name") I put "xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.cl
- In "Nombre de usuario" ("Username") I put "maquinar" (this is the name to acces to the hosting account)
- In "Contraseña" ("Password") I write the password to acces to the hosting account.
- In "Nombre de la base de datos" ("Database name") I write "maquinar_web". I previously create the "web" database and the system put the "maquinar_" prefix. Then I go to Next.

The system send the message:
"Ha ocurrido un error:"
"No es posible conectar con la base de datos. El mensaje de error devuelto es: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL"

I test making some changes in the following settings and get the same result.

- In "Nombre del servidor" ("server name") I use "localhost", " www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.cl ", " www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.cl ", "xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.cl/nuevaweb", " www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.cl/nuevaweb ", " www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.cl/nuevaweb ", etc
- In "Nombre de usuario" ("Username") I use "root", "jc" or "maquinar_jc".
- In "Contraseña" ("Password") I write the user password to acces to the database "web".
- In "Nombre de la base de datos" ("Database name") I write "web".

I try making many combinations and there are no good results.

There is no previous joomla installation and the hosting accept joomla 1.5 and 1.6 versions.

What is wrong in my procedure? Can you help me?

Ahhh: I download and try to install the Joomla 1.5 version template.

Best you ask your hosting provider for help because they know their DB system I we can only guess.
Commonly there is separate username for CP and DB , and also root is not username you will often get from provider to use. Also there should be some page in your CP where clearly is stated what username and password you use for DB.

Try not to change DB prefix, just enter name
