Despite following the step by step instructions for installing this Joomla 3.1 template via hotstart, I continue to get the following message:

"Could not connect to the database. Connector returned number: Could not connect to MySQL."
(Screen shot attached)

This has been such a frustration, I doubt that I will ever again purchase a HotTheme template.

Your help is very much appreciated!

This is not problem with joomla or our template it is probably caused by incorrect db parameters you provide.

Tell me about parameters you use so you created first DB named boomer9_00001 and SQL user boomer9 that has all permissions for that database(boomer9_00001) - right?

btw. if you are hosting on godaddy host name is not "localhost"

First, thanks for the quick reply. Trying not to sound so short & frustrated!

You made me realize that my biggest problem must be my lack of knowledge (which I'm working on).

1. I do not understand what "parameters" I should be using to guide my DB name and SQL user.
2. How can I confirm that all permissions are in place?
3. I am hosted on InMotion Hosting, so I am confident that "localhost" is correct.

I wanted to install a template with the demo data so I could speed up my learning curve for creating my website & I liked the DesignNow template. However, until now, I have always been able to download template demo data via the cPanel. This is a whole new experience for me.

If you think this is a bigger project than I can handle, I will appreciate your honesty.

Thanks so much,
Shirley

Well... I guess if you want to figure something out, you just have to break down and ask for help. Geezzz! I figured out what, most importantly, I was not doing. Once I entered cPanel and created my database first, it was a piece of cake!

Ian - thank you for your help. I guess I am not as much of a rookie as I thought - just letting my frustration get the better of me and for that, I sincerely apologize!

On the positive side, I now have more knowledge than I had yesterday. That is always a plus!

And I really do love the HotTheme templates! The next one I buy and install will be a piece of cake now!

Thanks again for your patience.
