Hot designation items in left column is fixed to 3

I'd like to list more items on the left list column. Even though the number is increased in the module setting (for example setting Number of Items to 5), only 3 are shown. Please let me know how to work around this. Thanks.

If you have used Hot designation module, (I am talking about the module type mode_hot_designation when you create a module), there are a few small images on the left and one large image on the right. In the module setting, there is a parameter called Number of Items. The description is "Number of items in the listing column". No matter what I enter in that box, only 3 small images are displayed on the left column. I'd like to list more.
