Suggestion on extension to use

If I want to add a simple email address collection extension or plugin- is it best to utilize the contact forms that come with joomla or is there a better option? I don't even think I need a password field, just a form that allows them to request updates. If I go to an extension- should I use a contact extension or a form extension?

You can select contact for to appear like list , see options under contact layouts in menu item setup when you chose menu item type.
