I did a hotstart of ecommerce 2.5 site and have added another template.
to get virtuemart working properly do I need to change the Vendor URL in virtuemart ?
current value is http://localhost:8888/demo_furniture_store17/

if it's localhost:8888 then you certainly need to change that, although that as setting for old joomla/vm to change I'am not sure how you have it but change it.
