ecommerce package was created by chrisbarker
Trying to load the HotStart installation of ecommerce through my remote server.
I can load the regular installation after Joomla has been installed, but the server cannot find the database when I load the package with joomla, which also includes the demo site which is what I want. I can load it to my local server because I get access to the database setup. But I don't when trying to laod remotely.
Thank you if anyone can help.

Strange, You can then install in on your local computer and then copy it to hosting server using procedure described here:
docs.joomla.org/Copying_a_Joomla_website
