I downloaded HotStart Cosmetics, installed successfully, changed virtuemart.cgf.php. Demo shop behaves OK for the time being. I wanted to change menu content, however when I entered Joomla Administrator Panel, I noticed that I cannot enter Joomla:

Menus->Menu Manager,
Menus -> Main Menu,
Menus -> Top Menu, etc.

Simply, I get "404 - An error has occurred. Component Not Found each time"

What's the reason? How to change the menu?

I did not upgrade anything from 1.7 to 2.5?
Do you mean VirtueMart upgrade? I am not interested in the latest version of VirtueMart because there are a lot of bugs. Therefore, I downloaded stabile hot_cosmetics_j15_hotstart and I proceeded according the hot_cosmetics_documentation, see below. Everything went perfect until I wanted to customize the menu in the Joomla Administrator Panel.

HotStart Installation
It creates a copy of our demo on your server. It's a fresh Joomla installation along with all content and
components shown on demo. Don't try to install over existing Joomla site! You should also complete the point 3
of this documentation as well (VirtueMart component).
3. VirtueMart component
It will be pre-installed with all settings if you use HotStart installation method. VirtueMart will not be fully
functional until you edit its configuration file:
a) In plain text editor (such as Notepad) edit file virtuemart.cfg.php (it's located in /administrator/
com_virtuemart)
b) Change lines 34 and 35 and enter your site's link, replace "http://localhost:8888/demo_fashion_store/"
C) Save file and upload on the server overwriting the old file.

I think you probably do not upload all the files from the HotStart properly. I recommend Filezilla FTP software for uploading, to make sure everything is uploaded properly. Joomla has several thousands of files, and everything must be uploaded properly. Also, check that all files of your Joomla have permissions set to 644 and all folders have permissions set to 755.

You are right! I removed everything, copied again using TotalCommander FTP, edited virtuemart.cfg.php using Notepad++, and finally it works!

Previously, I used a few FTP copy files sessions at the same time to speed up total transfer, and probably, as you noticed, I had to miss some Joomla file/files.

Thank you very much! :)
