Notice: Undefined variable in several sections

I have a lot of notices about Undefined variables. It all started to happen after i moved the Copyright info fromt he bottom to the footer.

I moved it back and the messages are still showing, but only on the admin section. The template Manager: edit Style. Most items have this message.

I am using Joomla 1.7.1 and Virtuemart 2.0. Had no issues until today.

Debugging is Off.

Is this a permission issue?

I already entered this code on the template's index.php
$showfooter = 0;
$columnLayout = '';

Please let me know what I need to do.

First of all, maybe it's better for you to upgrade to Joomla 2.5 and VM 2.0.2 for start. Also, if you got only warnings, not errors, that's nothing serious. You can disable them in global Joomla configuration.
