Hot Cosmetics

I am trying to build the hot cosmetics theme. I have build a few websites on other platforms but the hot theme is really driving me crazy. I have not been able to get the slideshow on the home page to work or the shop to look like the demo.

Is there a manual that I can download?

Well if you did not made much you can install "hot start" = joomla + template + modules + demo data and then just change content. So you install hot start as joomla just note the Install Sample Data option during installation.

when you purchase template from us, in zip file you get there are few zip files. One that name ends with ...hot_start.zip is one you need to unpack and copy it's content to your web root folder.

Two questions, first - by copying it into the web root folder set it live as my IT guys made a copy of the database and files and uploaded into a temp domain? and i would like to get the site right before taking down my current theme/ site and (2) is it possible to get a copy of the zip folder form you as i cant seem to find/access it (presumably it would be downloaded onto my laptop or will it be in the wordpress themes option?

You can install and work on site on other server then migrate to final location when you are ready. To migrate you need to copy files , import database and change values in configuration.php for db connection, log and tmp path that's all.
