I am getting URLS that look like this

daviefest.org/index.php/2011-04-19-08-33-27/ip

when I post new items in the top menu -- what is 2011-04-19-08-33-27 and how do I make it friendlier

The "2011-04-19-08-33-27" is alias of the menu item of this link. What menu item type is it?

not sure where to find the type - it is in the top menu section of the event template - these are sub Menus

You can see the Menu Item Type if you click on the menu item and then look for field: Menu Item Type
