Installation on existing website problem

I uploaded Hot Start files to a directory on my existing commercially hosted domain. (eg - mydomain.net/responsive). All of the files are there and the permissions are correct.

The installation begins when I point my browser to mydomain.net/responsive and gives me the language choice as it is supposed to do. But it does not complete the pre-installation check. I suspect this is because it cannot access anything on the server without being logged in.

Can I run the installation from the Control panel? If so, How?

Set CHMOD of all folders to 755 and files to 644 form cpanel file manager.
