Hot Sportal - Can I split the carousel in two rows

Hi!

I am interested in buying the Hot Sportal template. But I want to split up the carousel into two columns. I want to show the slideshow to the left and a scoreboard/newslist to the right. Like nhl.com or espn.com. Is is possible to add to two modules on User1-area so they will be shown side by side. Or can you help me with this (free?) if I buy it.
