Reinstall Coworking template after Joomla new-install was created by Alpensoft
I had a hotjoomla coworking template 3.xx running on a synology NAs until recently. The DSM OS of the NAS had to be re-installed, and a Backup / restore of the joomla subdirectory and the mysql databases etc. have been made. Unfortunately, the Joomla 3.10 package of Synology was not included in the backup/restore, therefore my coworking site does not work any more. The joomla/ subdirectory has been restored in place, the databases have been restored in place, and other web sites using mariadb are working fine. The new virgin joomla installed has been configured that it has contact to the mariadb databases, and the data are there, since the main menu gets the company name from there. But the menu structure of the old
www.buerohaus.li
web site is not there any more and the sparky framework was not listed in the joomla templates. Then I have I have re-instelled the sparky framework into Joomla by uploading the .zip file, and sparky framework is now listed in the joomla installation, but it says it's empty and has to be built up. There is no menu structure (except the main menu of Joomla, obviously pulling the company name etc. correctly from the mariadb database).
Is there a way to re-install the coworking templates respectively the menu structure WITHOUT the demo data? Or should I export the mariadb database, install the demo and import the database back? What would be the best way to get back to the old status, having all the menus back?
Thanks for any help
Gerald

Hello,
What you need is an upgrade of your existing website from J3 to J4. To be able to do that, you must have a working J3 website. If your current web host doesn't allow running J3, you can use another host or local host temporarily and do the upgrade there. Once you upgrade the website to J4, you can move it to your current host (the one that doesn't support J3).
Now, I will give you some common information about the migration of any website from J3 to J4:
The upgrade procedure is explained here: docs.joomla.org/Joomla_3.x_to_4.x_Step_by_Step_Migration
Our templates, modules, or plugins will not break the migration process. So, even if you see any of our extensions marked as "Not compatible" on the Extensions Pre-update Check section, please ignore this warning. However, other extensions installed on your website may break it (check this with the extensions' developers).
When your website is upgraded to Joomla 4 and all content is migrated, you should download the Joomla 4 version of the template from our website (you will need an active subscription) and install it. You can use the standard template installation as explained here www.hotjoomlatemplates.com/template-inst...on-without-demo-data
Regards,
Milos

Hi Milos,
Thank you for the explanation. That is good to know. I will come back to that matter, as soon as I am ready to upgrade.
I am not using a hoster, but run Joomla and the template on my own Server (a Synology Nas). The problem is, that Synology only delivers Joomla 3.10... with its DSM firmare by standard. Trying to install a non supported version may be very time consuming and needs a lot of knowledge about the environment. It may be possible to run Joomla 4.x on the "standard" DSM 4.2 beta firmware, but unfortunately, I don't have the patience to fight my way through that rather unsafe waters. I have just recenty (the last few days) seen a guide from Mario Hosting, how to install Joomla 4.9 in the Docker environment on a Synology NAS. But it has many many steps to go. So I'll wait a little bit to let it soak in, and see what others are experiencing.

As for my site, I have re-installed the "Standard" Joomla 3.10 on my Synology, went throug the process of installing hotjoomla template from scratch, and rebuilt the site by hand just today. Now the web site is 95% back, I just need to do some fine tuning.
For the moment I''m all set & will come back, when I am ready to upgrade.
Thanks again & have a nice day

Hi Milos,
Synology finally provided the so long expected upgrade to Joomla 4.2.9. I have upgraded Joomla to this version. The Joomla System itself seems working, including the Admin section. But here seem to be problems with the hotjoomla coworking extention or another extention. If I log in as admin, I can see all the texts and menus i have entered in the hotjoomla 3.xx version, but when connecting to the web site www.buerohaus.li , I don't see the web site as before, but get the error message:
buerohaus.li

What can i do, to get my web site back on-line, without having to type in all my texts an menus over and over again ?
BTW I have done a backup of the joomla site with akeeba just before upgrading the joomla from 3.10 to 4.2.9
Thank You - Gerald

Hi Milos,
In the meantime, I have downloaded the version 4 of the coworking template and did a TEMPLATE INSTALLATION WITHOUT DEMO DATA: www.hotjoomlatemplates.com/template-inst...on-without-demo-data
Now the error is gone, and the web site is back on-line. Everything seems to work, and all data from version 3 is still there, except a few things in the new version 4 template, like the site name saying "coworking", and a few specific configurations which i had changed then in version 3. It should be no problem to redo them.
I'm quite happy to finally be on version 4 now, it has been a long wait for Synology to upgrade Joomla to version 4.
