Virtuemart update withcurrent hot theme?

Hi,

I have the Hot drugstore theme which came with virtue mart already incorporated into the template package. Now Virtue-mart has a new update, and I'm not sure which way would be the best to do the update.

Should I just update it through my virtue-mart dashboard or should I update it using the extension manager. Using which option? Does it matter? Or is there an other way that is best?

Hi,

You can use any update method that you prefer. I think update through the virtuemart dashboard is easier. It's recommended to make backups of entire site before doing any upgrades.

Sorry to bother you again but I tried to update Virtue mart through my Virtue Mart Control Panel and I got an error message reading;

Unable to open archive
Extracting the update package failed. Please try updating the extension manually.

So I tried to upload the zip file from my computer and I got this message.


JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file.


Now what should I do?

I have the same template, had the same issue several hours ago, and what you need to do is to download the latest version of VM and install it through extension manager.

The "JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file." happens when you try to install wrong zip, or /tmp folder does not have write access so files are not temporaly extracted for installtion.
Since this zip in link is ok, probably you have some issue with access rights on site, check CHMOD from hoting file manager set it to 755 foders / 644 files.
