Product titles not compatible in VirtueMart search was created by KLJ
Hi,
I have Hot Drugstore that came with Virtue-mart. The problem I'm having is I have a lot of broken links in my product search due to the fact I have a lot of products that have names like:
" Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Chocolate Malt - 2 lbs (HG0236695)"
"Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Double Rich Chocolate - 2.07 lbs (HG0237107)"
"Optimum Nutrition 100% Case in - Vanilla - 2.0 Lb. (HG0237743)"
The problem with these products is, when virtuemart creates a link for them, the "%" symbol doesn't carry over. There are also symbols like this: ' . (e.g: Hyland's blah blah blah). The apostrophe in Hyland's doesn't carry over neither.
Since the internet does not like links with % or ' symbols in it, I'm getting the errors..
I had someone come in and help me fix some of them by renaming the product, but there are soooo many others that it is overwhelming to think of going in manually to do the rest. Plus if I ever have to purge my products and do a full reload I loose everything.
I was wondering if this extension would solve my problem: www.artio.net/joomla-extensions/joomsef
or is there a better solution?
Thank you for your help,
KLJ

That is strange because vm uses alias for link not name, and alias does not allow % and any other character except "-" and loewrcase letters. Do you use any aditional component for SEF links?

Hello,
From what I can see, no there is no additional component.
Look at this page for example:
www.livingearthecostore.com/index.php/co...hrase=all&Itemid=275
This is a search result for a two of the "Phresh" products.. one works, and the other doesn't..
The one that doesn't work has "100%" in the title, which the URL is being generated from.
Thank you,
KLJ
