Preview Module Postions and Styles not working

I'm running Joomla 3.2.1 and have Explorer template trouble, I've no idea when this happened as I haven't needed to edit template in half a year.

Under, Template Manager: Edit Style, I have a blank page with a heading and no editing capabilities.

I turned on "Preview Module Postions" and I get:
Fatal error: Cannot use assign-op operators with overloaded objects nor string offsets in /var/sites/r/rad_________.com/public_html/libraries/cms/module/helper.php on line 217

Download new template version for our site and replace template files.

I go to upload by "Upload & Install Joomla Extension" it tell me I already have template loaded and doesn't load.
How do I replace template and keep my setting?

By replacing template files I mean overwrite them via FTP. But be careful if you had some customizations in any of files like template_css.css to repeat them in new files.
