Hello,

For each template, on the template page, you have a compatibility icon that explains if the template is only for J4 or for both J3 and J4.

Milos

Thanks - went to Veterinarian and it shows both J3 and J4 logo. When I go to downloads there is both a J3 and J4 option. J4 doesnt work on J3 site.

So, looked around and cant see what you say. Can u pls tell me just one (any) template that work in both.

Thanks

Hello,

When I say a template works in both J3 and J4, I mean there are separate template files that you can download for J3 and J4.

It doesn’t mean that the same template package will be compatible with both J3 and J4, and it’s not necessary for any reason.

Regards,
Milos

Sorry Milos, not being aggressive but it appears (from reading) to be a good idea to have a template that works with both so that on migration, there is a continuity and one less issue :-)

With you adding the two logos - J3 and J4 - thats fine and I understand. Thank you.

With extensions it is harder. For example, mod_hot_counters.zip - is this a J3 or J4 extension, From develope download area there is only one option. I ask as it breaks my new J4 site when loaded.

Something like that is possible for simple modules, but not for complex templates or components. I understand you are frustrated because J3 is not compatible with J4, we all are frustrated about that. Many Joomla companies closed their businesses because it's very complicated to make an existing J3 product compatible with J4.

So, be happy 100+ of our templates are compatible with J4 (we invested a lot of time to make this happen) and you can simply install the J4 version after the website upgrade to J4.

Milos

Hi Milos
My thanks for excellent support/contact - as always!

I do understand and yes, Joomla is getting frustrating for many users. As you say, many developers have closed or, perhaps worse, ignoring client. Simple Image Gallery Pro used and subscripted by many users - they just ignore everything on their Forums. You don't - thank you.

I have had issues with a site of approx 1800 pages - having migrated the Joomla way, a very manual way LOL and using a migration package. All result in lots of time - its good experience but yes, its frustrating. And now there's J5 on the horizon and so many extensions still only in J3. I still have to migrate over 60 sites - the hardest it is that they were mostly using Joomspirit templates - really excellent for me but since the new owners, they ignore J4 and their regular users. Data is easy, replicating the look and feel of the old site takes time, especially with so many extensions still in J3 only.  The clients tend to think it is a money making exercise.

It makes me think some of the decisions are being made by Wordpress guys :-)

Once again, my thanks for excellent support.

Paul
