Hi, I'd like to use Hot Slicebox in a web site I'm developing, I downloaded the template and then read that it's better for new users to download the Hot Start package hot_templatename_j3X_unzip_first file and do a Joomla install using it and the sample data it contains.

However, despite looking anywhere I thought relevant I can't find a download or archive link - sorry for being so dumb - can you tell me where I can find the download please?

Thanks,

Trevor

Hi,

Thank you both for your replies.

Milos, I've downloaded the Hot Slice package, installed it and have set up a few slides to test it out, but I don't know what the next step would be. Presumably I need to insert some html for it to define it and call the query that drives it - but I'm afraid I have limited knowledge and don't know what/how to do that and I'm hoping that Hot Start included in the hot_templatenamej3x_unzip_firstfile package will provide for me.

Ivan, I've looked at the hot corporate package but unfortunately it requires purchasing. I did find some other links to download the package (on this forum, I think) but they returned an error 404. I should explain that I like the Slicebox effect and would like to use it in the web site I'm trying to make for the village where I live and want to test it first.

Thanks again for your help.

Trevor

Hi, sorry for a late reply but I've had some other things to do today.

Yes, I downloaded and installed Slicebox and then went into Module manager to set it up. I allocated Slides 1 to 6 to my test images, saved it and then opened the site in the browser, but Slicebox didn't appear. I searched the web which is where I found the reference to Hot Start but after my failure to find it I started this forum thread. Today I've tried changing Slicebox Menu Assignment from its default to appearing on All Pages, No Pages and on Selected Pages (Protostar Home, Single Article and others) but still no joy, Slicebox hasn't appeared.

From your question it sounds as though once installed Slicebox should appear and work? If that's the case then there's nothing I have to manually add to the site to invoke Slicebox to physically start to display the images?

My test site was the Joomla Learning English (GB) sample data from the Joomla installation. When I saw it demo'd on the web the sample images in the banner changed, yet on my test installation they don't Investigating this to see if I could resolve my problem I tried to change the sample image in the banner to one of my own, which I finally managed to do after a lot of trial and error. When I had some time this evening I tried to change the image to yet another to see if I could use that to find some way to get Slicebox working. Frustratingly I now find I can't remember how, nor discover where to change the image again - I've probably gone through too many components in my trying, and with my lack experience I failed. I guess I'm trying to run before I can crawl, and should read more Joomla documentation to gain a better understanding of how Joomla all fits together. I know you don't have the time to teach anyone Joomla, but any further help you can offer would be very much appreciated (but I understand if you can't).

Many thanks once again,

regards,
Trevor
