Performance issues

Hi,

we moved a Joomla 3 site to Joomla 4 and added the News Portal template (without sample data) and this site is terribly slow. We have 8 GB of RAM and 4 CPU cores on this VPS. We've assigned 512 MB for PHP. 
What can we do to improve performance? Even loading causes problems now.

I rebooted the MariaDB server and things seem to be normal again. Will test for a few more days,
