\\\\\ in image refs ?

Please can anyone tell me why I see slashes \\\\\ when I insert an image into content or module.
This is a Joomla 3 version of Onepage normal.
Joomla 3 installs fine, so I dont think it is a magic quotes problem.

I have looked in many places and cannot find an answer,

I think it is a "magic quotes" problem.
I can install joomla 3 from installatron with the default template fine.
but if i change an image from the defaul image to a new one in the same folder I get the slashes.

Going to try something different and see how I get on.

Nothing new installed, Just the default. or the standard onepage template.
